A St. Patrick’s Day Reflection on What Really Creates Success
There’s something about St. Patrick’s Day that brings a little extra lightness into the world.
The color green.
A bit of sparkle.
Four-leaf clovers…
And of course, the idea of luck.
And while I absolutely love the spirit of it all, I’ve been thinking about something a little deeper this year:
Is success really about luck?
Because when you look a little closer…
the people who seem the “luckiest” in life often have something else in common.
They show up.
They prepare.
They stay steady when things feel uncertain.
And they keep going—especially when it would be easier not to.
Luck… or Something More?
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with people in all kinds of seasons of life—
some stepping into exciting new beginnings, others navigating big decisions or unexpected challenges.
And I can tell you this:
The outcomes we admire most are rarely accidental.
Behind them are quiet choices made day after day:
• Choosing to keep learning
• Choosing to stay positive
• Choosing to take action
• Choosing to believe something better is possible
That’s not luck.
That’s intention.
When Preparation Meets Opportunity
There’s a quote I’ve always loved:
“Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.”
And I’ve seen that play out time and time again.
Opportunities do come.
Sometimes when we expect them… sometimes when we don’t.
But it’s the preparation—
the mindset, the effort, the willingness to act—
that determines what happens next.
It’s not about being perfect.
It’s about being ready.
The Power of Showing Up
One of the simplest, yet most powerful truths is this:
Showing up matters.
Even when it’s inconvenient.
Even when it feels uncertain.
Even when progress feels slow.
Every time you show up—
you build confidence
you build momentum
you build belief in what’s possible
And over time, those small, consistent steps begin to look a lot like what others might call “luck.”
Create the Life You Want
If there’s one message I’d share with anyone today, it’s this:
You have more influence over your life than you may realize.
You don’t have to wait for the perfect moment.
You don’t have to rely on chance.
You can:
• take the next step
• start the conversation
• make the plan
• go after what matters to you
Because progress doesn’t come from luck.
It comes from movement.
A Little St. Patrick’s Day Perspective
Today is a fun day—and I love it!
Wearing green. (Do you remember when you were young and wore something “green” under your clothes to tease everyone? 😊)
Wishing everyone a little extra luck.
Feeling that shift into spring.
Smiling just a little more.
But also remembering something important:
You don’t need luck to create something meaningful.
You just need:
• a little belief
• a little effort
• and the willingness to begin
Because when you combine those things…
you create your own kind of magic.
Final Thought
Whatever you’re working toward right now—
whether it’s a home, a goal, a fresh start, or something quietly important to you…
Keep going.
Keep showing up.
And trust that the effort you’re putting in today is leading you somewhere good. It’s so very worth it!
🍀 Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
